From The Desk Of Hony. General Secretary, AIOS
Greetings from the office of Dr Barun Kumar Nayak.
I am happy to inform that the AIOC 2016 at Kolkata was a huge success with a good attendance. This was despite the untimely heavy showers which lashed the city. The credit goes to the entire team which worked to their level best to take immediate measures to see that the people attending the conference were taken care of. It is my priveledge to congratulate and thank Dr Ratish Paul, Organizing Secretary of AIOC 2016 and his wonderful team for their tireless efforts. AIOC 2016 was attended by over 7000 delegates, who were looked after well.
I would like to welcome our new President, Dr D. Ramamurthy who with his innovative vision will surely take the association towards doing the best that it can for its members. I am very happy to extend my whole-hearted support to Dr Ramamurthy and I am sure all the divisions of AIOS will do the same.
I would also like to welcome our new Vice President, Dr Ajit Babu Majji who won the elections at the AIOC 2016. I am sure that he will prove to be an asset to the organization.
I had started task of updating the details of the AIOS members in our records after the last conference. I am happy to inform you all that with the efforts from our end and the support shown by the members themselves, we have email ids of 14447 members and mobile numbers of 12373 Members. We have also introduced a feature in our records wherein the members have a choice, whether they want to share their mobile numbers with everyone or it is to be used only for official purpose.
I would like to share with you that with each passing year AIOS is growing to be a strong force of ophthalmologists. You will be happy to know that as of today we are over 16900 effective in number. The total strength of Member so far joined the Society is 19170 as on date. We should all be proud to be a part of this wonderful association, which I am sure you all are. I would however, like to appeal to you all to make it possible to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held every year at the conference. Attending the AGM is the best way of knowing what is going on in the association and how we can improve it. There are a lot of issues which are being worked upon in the association which can be processed faster if there is more input from all of you. I hope that in the coming conference you will make it a point to attend the AGM and chip in to make AIOS even more strong.
Last but not the least, I would like to extend my personal thanks to you for your constant encouragement to me.
I am trying to deliver my best to the association and had it not been for your support I would not have been able to get my plans and dreams for AIOS into actuality. I could complete my tasks whether it was the of updation of members details or the educative webinars which were conducted regularly through the year or whether it was making available economical accommodation at the headquarters for the members who come to Delhi for a visit.
Please update your address /email id /mobile number at the earliest.
